HVOF Spray Equipment
Astro Alloys offers HVOF spray & coating equipment from Praxair and Stellite. In the 1980’s high-velocity oxy-fuel thermal spraying processes were developed. A mixture of gaseous liquid fuel and oxygen is fed into a combustion chamber where they are ignited and combusted continuously. The jet velocity at the exit of the barrel exceeds the speed of sound. The powder is injected into the gas stream and the stream of hot gas and powder is then directed towards a surface to be coated. The powder partially melts in the stream, and then deposits on the substrate. This tried and true process yields an ultra-dense coating with low porosity and high bond strength.
